I wanted to make more clay pieces so I rolled out a postcard sized clay panel and cut out the middle and made it look like it was tampered with and broken, My clay was too thick and it ironically shattered it to lots of pieces. I hope to make another one soon for my portfolio. For the abyss I tried to portray nothingness, something bare and quite large I thought it looked very interesting as a sculpture. When the clay dries I shall be painting my sculpture with dark tones to make it look more bland.

'Natural' and 'Fade' Clay Pieces.
I have some air drying clay at home so using a rolling pin I rolled out some thin pieces and played around with printing natural sources such as leaves, and I played around with ideas on how you can portray certain words in the clay like fade. I think this process worked well with a few words, other words like Abyss and vivid was harder to portray. I hope to use this process again soon for shattered and burnt out.
'Natural' Photograph Postcard.
Here is an example of my experimenting with photographs taken and how I can use them in my final postcards. I have taken a portion of the photograph out and printed the word 'Natural' in the missing section. This gave a sense of the use of negative space.
'Vivid' Photograph Collage
I cut up some unused photographs taken for this project and arranged them neatly into the shape of a postcard, I think the outcome looks interesting and vivid. I may consider this for my final post card outcomes.

'Burn't Out' Charcoal, Pencils and Wax sketches.
This Afternoon I have been sketching a lit candle. I have been using charcoal and pencil. On my pencil outcome I decided to tip some the melted wax over my drawing as a test, I found the outcome to look very interesting. The wax added texture and added shade. I thought it worked very well the only thing that didn't work as well was the added match it just didn't fit in with the tones. My charcoal outcomes were okay I found it hard to add detail with charcoal as everything seemed to smudge together.
'Vivid' Ink Marbling Experiment
I had lots of fun today experimenting with ink marbling which is where you float some ink on the surface of water and then you place a piece of paper on top of the water. The paper then should absorb the ink pattern you created. Make sure you use paper which absorbs the patterns and won't run when you hold it upright. I used this technique for the word 'Vivid', the patterns turned out lovely, but they were quite faint and certainly not bright enough for the word 'vivid' and for my final postcards, but I did have lots of fun doing this process.

'Natural' Postcard Experiments
Today I had some time on my hands so using the leaves I picked yesterday I decided to use them in my work. I wanted to incorporate a natural element into he postcard so I used the leaf and experimented with how I could do just that and here are my outcomes for today.

'Vivid' and 'Natural' Composition
I have been messing around with watercolour washes and biro sketches and I came up with this. I was surprised when I saw the combination of vivid and natural, it was a happy accident. It turned out really well maybe I could go on and create more combinations of my chosen words using mixed media.
Power Of Words Project - My Complete Postcard Series.
As you know I have been working on my 'Power of Words' project and I wanted to create a series of postcards showcasing all the words I chose to incorporate power. I think the series looks well and all the postcards work well together. I am very pleased with the end result.
'Natural' printing with acrylics
I have done some printing tests today as the previous ones worked well. I chose a bigger leaf and experimented on paper using acrylic paints. The outcomes worked well. It was hard to get the right amount of paint on the leaf and the right amount of pressure applied. For my 'Natural' postcard I went for this design because it was simplistic yet quite strong the print looks natural and isn't too over powering. I think it looks good.
My 'Natural' postcard experiment.
I started to experiment by using real life natural sources for my 'Natural' postcard like leaves and shrubbery just to create a realist composition. Its between that or try to incorporate them in a different way such as acrylic printing or my representation of them through drawing or painting. Bellow is my examples of my paint printed version and the use of natural sources versions as a postcard.
Gloomy Photographs
Today was a miserable day out, so I got my boots and coat on and decided to take some snaps to capture the glum mood. The main photos that worked well was the raindrops on the window and the black birds fleeing from a tree. I think these images captured the atmosphere of the day perfectly.

Natural Photography
For the word natural I found it hard to paint or draw it so I decided to go out and capture a natural source and maybe I could incorporate that or it would inspire me. It was a lovely sunny day in my garden today so I went around and captured some images that I thought looked natural. I liked the idea of photographing something natural so I may take this further and go out to a forest maybe or a lake and get some more inspiration there.
