Researching artist blogs 500 words

Researching artist blogs

The first blog I really found interesting was ‘Alex Noriega Sketch Blog’. Alex Noriega is a 30-year-old cartoonist from Barcelona. Alex uses his blog to show his illustrative drawings. The majorities of his drawings are linear and look quite simplistic but when you look closer you see how much detail he has actually been included in these sketches. Most of his sketches are monochrome, just black and white which makes these drawings very simplistic but they have texture, tone and shade which creates the detail. When Alex Noriega adds colour his colour pallet isn’t too strong and overpowering but quite neutral and soft, which is nice to the eyes. His layout in the entire blog is also like his drawings simple but it has all the information you need. I like the idea of a simple layout on the blog because then it draws attention to the images you have uploaded of your blog, which for a blog is successful. The viewers won’t get distracted and they can see your work clearly. Alex Noriega specializes in illustration so there isn’t a range of other processes and materials. In my blog I will have a range of mixed media.

The second blog that caught my eye was ‘Diana Mulder’s art blog’. Diana is a mixed media artist. The reason why she caught my eye was because when I first took a look at her artwork it was quite detailed and looked quite big and when I found out they were only a few inches small I was amazed. Diana works on a small scale and paints portraits and landscapes and they are very lovely. Another thing I noticed instantly was her banner. She has three of the same paintings different angles and sizes. They stand out and are eye grabbing. She also has her signature as the title which makes it very personal and she also has a little quote saying “Capturing moments of life’s journey” which is adorable. She combines her art work with her writing, text and a quote which makes it visually interesting to look at. Her layout is very basic just a blue and white background and her images laid out bellow each other which their information. If you have busy images it is best to have a simple background so it doesn’t look so muddled and hectic.

The final blog which I found was ‘Joanne Mattera’s Art Blog. Joanne Mattera is a mixed media artist. Her layout on her blog was pretty basic and clean, just a plain white background with neutral colours for her text and on her banner. But it didn’t need to be bright and attention seeking because her work in the photos did that for her. Her work was interesting because she used a lot of material and colours and it kept you wanting to see more. I want my work in my blog to do the talking for me and I want it to keep the viewer wanting more.

New project Pick one item and make or do 10 things with it.

New project Pick one item and make or do 10 things with it.
For this project I chose to do my teddy bear Stanley. For the first thing I decided to draw stanley using biro just to show what he looks like and what textures and pattern he creates.

Found this inspiring image online :)

Gives me hope and makes me smile :)

Snow days written by Stanley Williams (The Bear Diaries)

Why should humans have all the fun in the snow! Men and women go out and create snow versions of them, called snowmen. So I thought I'm going to make one! I dressed up warm with my coat, hat and boots and journeyed out into the snow. I admit It was freezing but I wasn't going to be beaten. After about half an hour I created this! and Sam said that occasionally in the snow you can make a snow angel so I also tried my hand at this and created a snow bear :) I hope you all enjoy!  Thank you all, Stanley Bear x

Snow day :) 18th January

On Friday the 18th January I woke up and found my garden a blank canvas the snow covered my garden like a blanket. Every snow day me and my dad go out and build a snowman :) this yeah we decided to make a snow polar bear.

You can see I'm related to my dad, we both pull a funny pose when the camera is on.

This was the outcome, It was very sucessful and looks so cute. :)

I really like the icicles hanging off my summer house, they look so pretty :)

Later in My family and I went for a stroll into the forestry behind me. The snow made the forest look like Narnia it was spectacular!!

You can't finish a snow day with out a snow angel. It was freezing and the snow did go down my neck. I love the snow but it was lovely just to get back inside and have a hot squash.

Inspiration 'Alex Noriega'

I love the pile on of animals :D especially the lion!

I came across this blog which I thought was very awesome. The illustration is simple but great. Its easy to understand and also it can produce very detailed images which we easily decipher.
These images are cute and have a comedy element to them. I really love them :)  The artists blog is-http://alexnoriegasketchblog.blogspot.co.uk/

My final products from my homage to books project

I created this series of books from the inspiration of Alexander Korzer-Robinson. I bought this trilogy of very old junior world encyclopedias from my local charity shop. I loved the images in this book and to salvage them I decided to remove all the text and leave the images. this created a layered effect. Much like Alexander Korzer-Robinson's work.

I decided to call them Pictures tell a story because you can see the heritage or religion or even a certain place, through these images. I think these would work well in a triptych and I would most certainly use them in a sorty of retro way for wall hangings.
