For the exhibition you could give out free business cards to promote yourself and I did just that. I used my photo copies of stamps and the first layer and using alphabet stamps I wrote my name on white card and layered it on top. On the back I added 'artist' and my email address 'samanthadwilliams@hotmail.co.uk'. I really liked the cards and they fitted into my display beautifully.

Exhibition June 14th
The exhibition is called show and tell. For my exhibition I had to set up my boards and exhibit my final outcomes from my final major project 'postcards from my life'. The exhibition was set up on the Wednesday and we worked putting up our work. I drew up a layout in my sketchbook and worked from that. I had 4 boards. On the first board was 15 of my hand drawn postcards pinned on to a stamp all lined up in groups of threes. On the second board was a shelf with my clay triptych and above that was 3 negative prints. On the third board was a shelf with my paper 3D pop out postcards with my resin postcards above. And finally on the forth board was the photographed postcards. The exhibition looked very professional and I am very happy with it.

Resin postcards
I decided to make some resin postcards. I chose to write on the postcards little message from a certain place. I researched things you would write on a postcard and asked my friends to write me a postcard each. From this I picked 5 to encase them in resin. Firstly I had to cut and sand some wood the same size as a postcard would be and made the mould. I then mixed the resin and placed tr paper postcard into the mould and poured resin over the top. Using a pin I popped any bubbles. I decided to add some fresh flowers to the resin samples my make them look more appealing. I liked the resin outcomes they were something new and interesting to create and look at.
Clay postcards
These are my clay postcard outcomes. With the buff clay I decided to glaze the skies with first a layer of cobalt blue oxide and then 2 coats of wood grey green glaze, for the buildings I just covered them with black iron oxide and for the features on the postcards I used green transparent glaze (2 coats). I am very happy with the outcomes. The colours compliment my entire project very well. The blue skies, green features and the textured buildings fit in perfectly.

Updates on the Clay Postcards
Looking into 3D postcards
My tutor brought in a 3D postcard she picked up on her travels and they were very interesting. It was like pop out and looked very professional, so I decided to do some research of my own. I came across this artist Giovanni Russo who created 3D postcards of landmarks around the world. So for my project I decided to give it a go. I planned what I wanted on them and then using the tutors version I could use the same techniques. I created 2 versions a black and white which I thought would be a nice contrast like night and day. I'm very happy with the outcomes and I hope to use them in the show.
